What You Can Do

The ALA website provides ways in which anyone can fight censorship and make all books easily accessible to all people. Some of these include organizing a Banned Books Week celebration in schools, reading banned books, and making your own PSAs.

Banned Books Week

Banned Books Week occurs every year during the last week of September. The American Library Association explains that "Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community –- librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types –- in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular."
